Special Edition-Retro comic style cover

This commission was really a special edition, a retro comic style cover, like one of those from the 60’s or 70’s.

I was provided with a good briefing, this only happens when your client has a very clear idea in mind. All the text, from the title to the the different captions on the cover was decided by the client. I was also provided with reference pictures, which is always a big, big help when you have to draw a headshot.

For the background, I decided to add a photograph I took with my mobile. I worked with the picture using my usual software, Affinity Photo, giving a monotone color which fits quite well with that 70’s style, very typical in many comic book covers from that era.

The final touch, according to the original idea, picking the right color palette. I always try not to use many different colors, it’s better to choose three or four and trying to combine them in harmony.
